Management and crew created a fun working environment. Hours were flexible to fit workers needs. Having good music going in the kitchen made rushes and your shift pass easier.
The people are amazing, the management team had everything figured out. The overall experience was great for a first job, but after time I had to move on. For experience it was great, and I loved almost every minute of it. The job is worth having if you’re willing to take it, but the pay could’ve been a little better. Overall, great first experience with work and great people overall. It was fun.
Pros
Reasonable scheduling
Cons
Short breaks
It was a fair environment when opening this location. The company sent a team to train the employees for this location that team was one big family. They made you feel welcome and always open to moving up in the business.. however its hard to be promoted because the people who are there, stick around and stay in the promotional positions. It was fine.
Pros
Easy way for good management experience
Cons
can be hectic
You always have to be fast past and energize or this job will actually burn you out. The coworkers were amazing we definitely had some that were not the best but it happens I guess
Pros
Break whenever
Cons
Customers
I worked there for 5 months they only care about what they can't take from you not how you can make the store better or what you can bring to the team. Their always shorting people's drawers.
I worked at Sonic for years, cross trained hop to management. The first year was awesome. I loved my job. But as time went on I saw drama erupt and eventually it got to be too much. Management is slow to take action, if any. It is draining and definitely not for everyone.
Pros
Easy to move up in the company
Cons
Insensitive and disrespectful co-workers
there was alot going on at once and it would get stressful with the staff and they'd confuse things but other than that it was a pretty good place to work at
I have been with this company for almost two years. I started out as a team member within a year in a half of working here I have became the Assistant GM. You come in on time in uniform and perform your duties properly you get more hours, more money and the opportunity to move up in the company. This company encourages Growth and Development within the company
Pros
Opportunity to get raises, Opportunity to move up
Cons
Shorter hours in the winter
management didn't really know what they were doing. they picked favorites without listening to other people's sides of the story. overall a great company to work with if you haven't had a job before because the pay is really good.
Pros
free lunches
Cons
short breaks
When I worked at sonic i was very young. it’s very fast paced work and a great job for a younger person to really learn the basics of work and learn to master multitasking.
15 years and I still enjoy my job daily. Our group strives to be the best, and promotes employee engagement. The hours get long and it is very fast paced. The LTOs are what gets overwhelming at times, you can tell that the people that create them do not know what it is like to work a position trying to have the orders out fast.
Pros
Great pay and advancement opportunities .
Cons
Long hours
The sonic I worked at was fun. Some of the managers are laid back.... but you definitely have to be fast. It’s an easy job, orientation takes a while, but u can sit on your phone. I had countless friends that worked there, so work was always fun.
Pros
50% off food
Cons
Short breaks
Sonic Drive in is a great place to learn good work ethic and gives you an opportunity to learn leadership skills assuming you have good leadership at your specific store or group of stores.
Pros
Flexible schedule
Cons
A lot of teenagers
Sonic is an extremely fast paced environment being one of the most popular fast food brands. However in the right store with the right leadership as I had it makes it much more manageable.
Pros
Free meals each day, flexible schedule
Cons
Short breaks, stressful at times
The job was pretty easy, and I enjoyed the routine. It Would get busy at rush hours and could be stressful during those times, but overall an okay place to work.
Worked at a Sonic franchise for 9 years. Tips were great at my location. Coworkers are like family. Loved my amazing regulars. Sonic gets very busy and can be very chaotic. Over the years dealt with everything from sxl harassment to wage theft. Misogyny is a common theme. Management is totally unprofessional and can essentially behave however they want without any consequences. Keep track of your hours, keep your tips out and know your rights as an employee.
Pros
good tips, good exercise
Cons
wage theft, unprofessional management
Love my job. Easy work and the tips are worth it ......... Some days are alow with the coronavirus, but the tips when it's busy are worth it .........
Worked off of tips, 4 days a week and made a good amount. Fun job but horrible co workers. Free drinks and get discounts on food. Can leave early if needed.
Pros
Free drinks
Cons
Not good enough pay
The longer I worked at Sonic, the more I could see that the managers don't give their employees any recognition for their quick, or prepared behavior but the second the kitchen would slow down, both managers would start to drill into them and eventually just take over for them. They normally do an even worse job when they take over, creating a horrid mess for the kitchen to clean up after them. When it was all slow, they normally didn't mind if you went outside to take a small 3 minute break but if it picked back up while you were gone, you just committed a crime to them.
Pros
Free Lunch
Cons
Management, Short Breaks, Hostile
