The most useful review selected by IndeedAn Easy Job for Weekly Pay
Unarmed Security Officer (Current Employee) - Aurora, CO - December 28, 2020
It's nothing glamourous. I work my 40 hours a week and get paid every week. I work Unarmed Security. It is incredibly boring work. Mentally draining and very little actual work 98% of the time. The other 2% is dealing with situations be it a homeless person or just an irate worker. If you need money and you can't find something else short notice this is the spot. Management will give what you give them. Don't be a difficult employee so they don't have to be the bad boss. I have heard too many people at my current post talking about my supervisor's who have been nothing but kind and respectful to me. Show up on time, do your job, clock out. That's really it.
Pros
Weekly Pay, Respectful Management
Cons
Boring/Mentally Draining

A company is only as good as its brand promise and the trust of its employees. Without these two things, it is doomed to fail.
Security Guard (Former Employee) - Philadelphia, PA - February 22, 2021
This company would disposal of its employees within a second, so don't jeopardize your life for it. The management team doesn't pay attention to the responsibilities they appoint officers with at different locations/sites. They forget about their employees and new comings employees. They don't train you on defense and in case of emergency. The salary pay rate is forbidden and the lack of learning opportunities for the officer's to grow. Dealing with individuals with mental illness as a service provider we should be allowing guarding ourselves as Protection for the locations. This company doesn't deliver on its promises and the pay rate is never what you would expect to get when attending the orientation Or filling out the job application so be mindful when working for this company. They don't be delivering the hours you earned without a doubt so watched them. The stress that this company would bring its employees is unstable for anyone's physical and/or mental health.
Pros
Hours and different locations
Cons
Pay rate, No support for employees, dealing with management.

Branch Manager (Current Employee) - Kansas City, MO - February 19, 2021
I started as a guard within the folds of Champion, I have worked my way to a branch manager. There has been struggles and trials, but overcame. I work with an amazing group of Officers and have great support from the corporate team.

Security Officer (Former Employee) - Pittsburgh, PA - February 18, 2021
Corporate has no idea what they are doing. They do not value the employees. Some weeks I wouldnt even get paid. It was impossible to get ahold of anyone in upper management.

Armed Security
Armed Security Officer (Current Employee) - Lakeland, FL - February 7, 2021
Champion National Security has been one of my better experiences working for a security company. None of my supervisors have tried to screw me over or lie about schedules and check to make sure everything is good on the post. The only complaint would be the pay but no armed security guard jobs pay that well to begin with.
Pros
good work environment
Cons
pay

Terrible
Unarmed Security Officer (Current Employee) - San Antonio, TX - January 18, 2021
No communication. Terrible pay for the job. Supervisors are pretty okay, they just don’t seem very into their job. Because of that it kind of screws everyone else up.

This job all bad
Supervisor Security Officer (Current Employee) - Indianola, MS - January 18, 2021
They move you around a lot never really in a steady location. Even thought you get paid every week the pay was bad for the work you have to do. They would have you outside in all type of weather with nothing, for example if its cold outside the don't give you away to stay warm, they don't provide any rain gear. The company pays favorites with employees. Its just a bad company...they just want to keep they Contrack and do t care bout the employees..u will never have no Supplies
Pros
Payed every week
Cons
The company altogether is bs

No different than the average security company
Security Professional (Former Employee) - Denver, CO - January 9, 2021
No different than another security company I've worked for where it's always the same. Super uptight management that gets on your case for calling off for legitimate reasons while giving a slap on the wrist for those who abuse the system. Always short staffed where the supervisors have to come in to fill in empty spots and begging people to come or stay when they can't do it. Relief is never on time and you're forced to stay unless the site supervisor lets you go. Coworkers constantly calling off or doing no call no shows given multiple chances. Coworkers throwing people under the bus whenever they don't like a certain person. The warehouse where I worked, the workers are always complaining about the smallest things about the guards who are simply just doing their job.
Pros
Lots of overtime
Cons
Questionable coworkers, workplace conflicts, uptight management

Unstable Job
Unarmed Security Officer (Former Employee) - Austin, TX - January 5, 2021
One of the worse jobs I’ve worked for. Scheduling is completely uncertain. Managers ineffective in communicating work task or changes. Only incentives in weekly pay and even then they hold your first two checks for 2 weeks. Not a long term or main job to have. Even then you’re more than likely to be temporary anyways. As they do not have solidified contracts. Nice guys but horribly ran company.
Pros
Availability
Cons
Job uncertainty.

Horrible company
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Philadelphia, PA - January 2, 2021
Rogue security company, never get relieved on-time if at all. Careless managers who put you on the schedule after you've told them you can't work. Stay far away.
Pros
Get paid on time
Cons
Everything Else

Management was bad, Client was great
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Prairie View, TX - December 10, 2020
There was always a threat of losing the contract. They would hold it over our heads, all the time. When speaking to the client, they would have no idea what we were talking about when asked about contract stability. Managers at champion changed multiple times. In all honesty, they were losers. Best part about the job was when we could just deal with the and do our job. My team was really cool for the most part, and the work was cool.
Pros
Team, No one hovering over you once on site
Cons
Managers

Don't stand up for their valued employees.
Security Officer (Former Employee) - Jacksonville, FL - December 2, 2020
This company allowed the GM of the contracted company to release me of my post w/o merit. I've had no write ups or anything. I was on time for my shift everyday..
Pros
Meet a lot of great people.
Cons
No breaks

Bad place to work
Security Guard (Former Employee) - Richardson, TX - November 30, 2020
They don’t pay their employees, they overwork you and depend on you to come in when other employees call out of work, supervisors are horrible and want you to continue to work with no pay.

They don't care about you.
Unarmed Security Officer (Current Employee) - South Carolina - November 28, 2020
When i was hired the manager at the time lied to me promising a pay raise after 90 days. I found out he was lying after calling what felt like everyone in corporate just for no one to pick up the phone, not call back or someone giving me the wrong number. They expect you to be professional with the client and all others around but as soon as they feel like you are wrong they will snap at you. I had the dispatcher call me an hour before i was supposed to come in and said i was late being rude and confrontational even went to the length of calling my mother being rude. I got to the bottom of it talk to my supervisor he said i was right and they were wrong so i called to get an apology and move on with life but dispatch doubled down. They cant even apologize when they're wrong or contact you regarding serious issues.
Pros
It is a job you will get paid
Cons
People in the company only respects you if you have rank.

Work-life balance Work-life balance at Champion National Security, Inc. is good. I work 3 1/2 days on, and 3 1/2 days off. My days off are weekends. Pay & benefits My pay and benefits at Champion National Security, Inc. are pretty good. $13 an hour, but way less stress than my past job. Job security and advancement In terms of job security at Champion National Security, Inc., it’s a security job. Just come to work, do your job, keep the client happy, and you’re good! Management In general, managers at Champion National Security, Inc. are great! They seem to actually care about the employees. Overall My experience working at Champion National Security, Inc. is fantastic! I work a patrol unit for a beachfront neighborhood. It’s 15 minutes from home, and it’s way less stress than any job I’ve had before. My only compliant is the client not fixing THEIR patrol car, so when it’s in the shop or breaks down, I have to use my own car.
